Absolute has completed a carbon fibre chamber retrofit on an early Weipong machine for a UK customer, upgrading the existing ink chamber and loading system to improve wash performance and reliability.
The original machine used an open-ended chamber design which allowed ink and water to reach the vacuum bed and limited the effectiveness of the wash cycle. Absolute replaced the system with carbon fibre chambers featuring end seals and internal wash jets, designed to provide improved cleaning and reduce the risk of colour contamination and anilox plugging.
The retrofit also replaced the machine’s hydraulic chamber loading system with pneumatic bladder loading. According to Absolute, the conversion provides more consistent loading across the chamber, helping maintain alignment with the anilox and reduce the potential for leakage and uneven blade wear.
The new chambers and loading system have been integrated with the machine’s existing pump and print unit controls, avoiding the need to replace the complete system. Absolute said the retrofit has resolved the customer’s colour contamination issue while improving washout performance and supporting increased machine uptime.
