The Palm Group recently invited the local community to a public tour of the new paper mill with a social programme on Sunday, 25th September 2022, to celebrate the company’s 150th anniversary and the inauguration of the new paper mill in Aalen.
Almost 10,000 visitors took the opportunity to have a look at the new paper mill. The tour guided visitors from the waste paper storage to stock preparation and paper production on the new paper machine, PM 5. The tour also included a visit to the state-of-the-art combined heat and power plant with the latest generation new gas turbine, which can also be powered by hydrogen.
The finished paper is automatically wound at the end of PM 5 and then cut to customer requirements in the rewinder. A highlight of the tour encompassed the fully automatic robot, marking the identification of each roll. A complex transport system carries the paper rolls to the designated place for storage in the finished roll warehouse. At a careers stand, visitors also had the opportunity to learn about the training and study opportunities at Papierfabrik Palm.
The temporary hall erected specifically for the 150th celebrations at the paper mill site housed a varied social program for the visitors. Completing the event, regional music clubs and performances by cheerleaders provided entertainment, along with diverse food from numerous food trucks on offer.
