The Klingele Paper & Packaging Group is expanding its packaging capacity at its Wunsiedel site with a new, state-of-the-art production line for corrugated packaging. The new line comprises an EMBA QS Ultima 215, complemented by an Alliance Pre-feeder, Signode bundling machine and a MUK robot.
Thanks to cutting-edge technology and a high degree of automation, the line increases the site’s efficiency and creates additional flexibility in terms of formats, qualities, and printing. Customers benefit from a broader range of orders and reliable availability of their packaging.
From corrugated sheet to finished packaging
The new system automates key steps in packaging production. Large, heavy sheets of corrugated board, which were previously inserted manually, are now fed in by the machine itself. The operator enters format data such as length, width, and the position of the creases.
Then the technology takes over: the blanks are printed, cut, folded and glued. Finally, the boxes are automatically bundled. Manual packing is eliminated; the process steps mesh together precisely.
Optimised processes and modern working environment
The new system reduces physically demanding, manual tasks and clearly structures workflows. Operators will be able to focus more on setup processes, system monitoring, and quality assurance – tasks that support stable operations and contribute to consistent packaging quality.
During the commissioning process, the teams received comprehensive training, an older machine was dismantled, and the hall area was fitted with a new industrial floor. This creates a working environment designed for precise, repeatable processes.
Wunsiedel as an important component in the Klingele network
Founded in 1971 and part of the Klingele Paper & Packaging Group since 2002, the plant, operating as Norpack Verpackungsgesellschaft mbH, is an important location for small and medium-sized production runs with a high degree of product variety and a significant amount of manual labour. With the new facility and further planned modernisations of its machinery, Klingele is laying the foundation to continue offering its customers tailored packaging solutions of reliable quality in the future.
