W&H fires up unique cast film line

Flexible packaging equipment manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) is now operating a unique cast film line – Filmex II – at its technology centre in Lengerich, Germany, in order to support the development of next-generation barrier and machine direction orientated (MDO) film structures.

The W&H Filmex II line features 10 functional extruders plus one encapsulation extruder for the production of up to 11-layer cast films, along with Cloeren feedblock and die technology, W&H’s Die Control Wizard (DCW), and a two-gap MDO unit.

The line supports the development of barrier and MDO film structures and gives film producers the opportunity to evaluate new materials, structures, and processing conditions with the support of W&H process engineers.

“There’s no other line like it in the world,” stated Stephen Post, Senior Sales Director, Cast Film, North America, W&H.
