CITOSOL ACTIVE – the new benchmark for cleaning cutting plates

Nowadays, a cutting plate cleaner has to do more than just reliably remove dirt. Equally important are rapid further processing, simple and safe handling, straightforward storage and transport, as well as environmental compatibility. These customer requirements formed the basis for the development of CITOSOL ACTIVE. The new high-performance cleaner has been designed to support cleaning as an integral part of the overall production process.

This high-performance cleaner combines power with freedom from labelling requirements and process reliability. Thanks to its excellent cleaning properties, the surface of cutting plates or machines can be cleaned reliably and efficiently. It makes no difference whether these are residues such as adhesives, oil, grease and paint residues, or other contaminants that arise during the production process.

The cleaner is suitable for a wide range of applications. In addition to the standard cleaning and degreasing of cutting plates, there are other areas of application in production: these range from the removal of adhesive residues and the cleaning of the platen press, through to the degreasing and cleaning of machines and machine components, to the removal of labels.

During production, residues such as adhesive residues, oil and grease, or other production-related contaminants accumulate on cutting plates and machinery. If these residues remain on the surfaces, this can impair the adhesion of adhesive tapes and coatings, make tool changes more difficult and prevent subsequent processes from running smoothly. The powerful cleaner removes adhesives, oil, grease, resins, wax and other stubborn dirt reliably quickly and residue-free. It results in clean surfaces and reliable adhesive bonds. Its quick evaporation enables brisk further processing and leaves behind ready to use surfaces without annoying residues. Furthermore, the solution activates the surface through cleaning, thereby increasing the adhesion of adhesive tapes, coatings and print.

Markus Baldauf, Head of Product Management, explains, “In the packaging and corrugated board industries in particular, the demands placed on cleaning products have risen significantly in recent years. In addition to cleaning performance, process reliability, safety, logistics and environmental aspects are becoming increasingly important. We have succeeded in offering a solution that meets all these requirements.”

A particular highlight of the new cleaner is that its powerful cleaning performance does not come at the expense of safe and simple use. The product also takes into account key aspects such as storage, transport and labelling. Under the current CLP Regulation, it is not classified as a hazardous substance, and neither hazard symbols nor signal words are required. Furthermore, it is not classified as dangerous goods, which makes day-to-day handling in the operation considerably easier for businesses.

The cleaner also performs well when it comes to occupational safety and storage. In accordance with the classification set out in TRGS 510, it is assigned to storage class 12 for non-flammable liquids. As a result, companies have fewer requirements to meet regarding storage and fire safety than in comparison to other classic solvent cleaners.

Product safety plays a key role, particularly for converters in the packaging industry. The cleaner is ISEGA-certified for its intended uses in food-related production areas.

Environmental aspects were also taken into account. The cleaner contains biodegradable ingredients, is assigned to Water Hazard Class 1 and, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, is not classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment. The product therefore helps companies to combine environmental requirements with operational sustainability targets.

Michael Schuster, Head of Sales, adds, “We can offer the market a cleaner not subject to labelling requirements with excellent cleaning performance and optimal evaporation behaviour. In this way, we support converters in the packaging, corrugated board and food industries with a future-proof product, enabling them to make their processes significantly more efficient and sustainable.”
