The Box Factory completes major Distribution Hub investment

The Box Factory has completed a significant investment in a new 50,000 sq ft central distribution hub just outside Leamington Spa, increasing warehousing capacity by 45% while creating additional manufacturing space to support continued business growth.

The investment comes at a pivotal time for the corrugated packaging industry, as acquisitions, site closures and changing customer demands continue to reshape the UK market. By strengthening its logistics and manufacturing capabilities, The Box Factory is investing in long-term resilience, ensuring customers continue to receive reliable supply, competitive lead times and scalable support.

The new distribution hub, just 5 miles away from its existing head office and manufacturing sites, consolidates three existing warehouses and four temporary storage units into one highly efficient facility. This increases pallet capacity from 5,500 to well over 8,000 while freeing up space at the company’s existing manufacturing sites.

As a result, manufacturing floor space will expand by 15,000 sq ft, creating capacity for further production investment and future growth. The investment has been designed with customer service at its core.

Alongside the new distribution hub, The Box Factory invested £500,000 in a new Eterna automatic die-cutter, delivering improved reliability, precision and production output. The machine was installed in December.

The business also enhanced its KMSS SPOCS Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) system with a connected network of sensors, machinery interfaces and 33 live visual management screens across its manufacturing operations. The real-time operational data enabled production teams to monitor performance, improve communication and make faster, data-driven decisions that reduced downtime and increased machinery utilisation by 18% within the first three months.

The investment has also strengthened the company’s engineering and maintenance capabilities by supporting more proactive preventative maintenance planning and improving responsiveness across manufacturing operations.

Neil Price, Managing Director, said, “Our independent status allows us to be agile and make fast decisions when needed. This benefits the way we can flexibly approach each customer relationship, in terms of the projects and investments we make. By investing now, we’re creating the foundations for our next stage of growth while ensuring our customers benefit from a packaging partner that continues to expand its capabilities to meet their evolving needs.”
