Mitsubishi Heavy Industries EMEA, Ltd. recently welcomed an executive delegation from Saico Srl to its primary manufacturing facility in Mihara, Japan. The visit focused on inspecting the assembly of Saico’s newly ordered EVOL 100 Flexo Folder Gluer, scheduled for installation at Saico’s facility in Perugia, Italy, in January 2027.
Founded in 1971, Saico is a leading independent manufacturer of corrugated packaging solutions in Italy. This landmark order marks Saico’s first investment in MHI’s high-speed flexo folder gluer technology, as well as a major market milestone: the 10th EVOL line installed in Italy.
During their visit, the Saico delegation — comprising Luca Bei (Owner & CEO), Filippo Bei (Owner), Giulia Moroni, and Giada Palazzetti — completed an extensive tour of MHI’s Mihara plant, including the assembly shop, high-precision machining facility, and customer training centre.
The program also included an operational visit to a leading Japanese corrugated box plant utilising MHI equipment. The delegation observed MHI corrugators and EVOL lines operating in real-time, focusing specifically on high-mix, low-volume production efficiency, operational flexibility, and international best practices.
“We are delighted to welcome Saico to our Mihara facility and are truly honored by their decision to select the EVOL 100 for their plant in Italy. This installation marks an important milestone as the 10th EVOL in the Italian market, reflecting the growing trust in MHI’s technology across Europe. We anticipate a highly successful and fruitful collaboration with the Saico team for many years to come,” says Giovanni Bettini, Head of Sales, MHI EMEA Corrugating & Printing Machinery Division.
Beyond equipment review and technical validation, the visit underscored the strategic value of cross-border partnership and technical exchange. By pairing MHI’s engineering and automation excellence with Saico’s market presence and manufacturing capabilities, both companies continue to reinforce their commitment to operational efficiency and customer value.
