MHI secures first EVOL installation in Finland, at Adara Pakkaus

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries EMEA has confirmed the successful start-up and commercial operation of a four-colour EVOL 100 flexo folder gluer at Adara Pakkaus in Finland. The installation represents a double milestone for MHI: it is the company’s first EVOL machine commissioned in Finland, as well as the first EVOL featuring a Dual Slotter (DSL) in the Nordic region.

Equipped with MHI’s MPF-M pre-feeder, Dual Slotter, and Mitsubishi Box Slitter, the high-speed line runs at maximum speeds of up to 350 boxes per minute (bpm). Utilising the Dual Slotter system, the machine enables two-up box production, allowing Adara to achieve output rates of up to 42,000 boxes per hour a milestone already routinely met in daily commercial operation.

Adara selected the EVOL 100 as they required a versatile, high-performance solution capable of spanning an exceptionally wide product range from small miniline formats to medium and larger midline boxes. Following extensive market evaluations, Adara concluded that the EVOL with Dual Slotter offered the optimal balance of speed, capability, and agility.

The installation and commissioning phase progressed smoothly, with Adara signing the final acceptance test shortly after initial performance trials. Commercial production commenced immediately following sign-off.

Operational feedback from the factory floor has been equally positive. “Our operators are extremely happy with the EVOL it is easy to operate and delivers the high performance we expected,” confirmed Lari Seppälä, Head of Printing and Project Manager at Adara.

“This project holds great importance for us,” commented Filippo Senore, Senior Sales Representative, MHI EMEA. “This machine not only represents the first EVOL sold to Finland, but also the first EVOL with Dual Slotter installed in the Nordic countries. We look forward to further developing our partnership with Adara and strengthening MHI’s position across this key region. MHI extends its sincere thanks to the joint installation teams from both companies, as well as Adara’s management, for their close coordination and support throughout the project lifecycle.”
