Saica Pack has received planning permission to expand its Thrapston facility in Northamptonshire, UK, with a new 14,000 sqm storage building. North Northamptonshire Council approved plans for the development, which will be constructed next to Saica Pack’s existing warehouse and connected to it via an underground tunnel.
The company said the additional capacity will allow finished goods to be stored at the Thrapston site rather than transported to other facilities in Corby and Sywell, helping improve operational efficiency and reduce vehicle movements.
“Bringing the warehouse under one roof would improve efficiency and significantly reduce vehicle movements,” said Allan Foakes, Regional Director, Saica Pack. He added that the company, which began operations in Thrapston in 1996, has an “absolute desire” to remain and grow in the area.
