Following its official statement in February this year, Julius Schulte Söhne GmbH & Co. KG has now ceased production of coreboard at its mill in Düssseldorf, Germany.
The company said it produced the last tonne of coreboard at the end of June. The mill had been producing coreboard for 140 years.
The company has said, however, that it will produce some coreboard at its Julius Schulte Trebsen GmbH & Co. KG paper mill in Trebsen/Mulde near Leipzig. This mill is where the company produces containerboard, including Testliner and Fluting.
“In recent years, customer deliveries were primarily handled via the Düsseldorf site, which had long been a reliable and valued production location. However, structural conditions, particularly the plant’s inner-city location, as well as the economic market conditions of recent years, have increasingly burdened the company. Paper production in Düsseldorf has now ceased. In parallel, the Düsseldorf site will temporarily – likely until mid- 2027 – allow the further processing of parent rolls from the production of Julius Schulte Trebsen GmbH & Co. KG in Trebsen,” confirmed the company on its website.
