Christian Schmidt, Cluster Director, DS Smith Romania, has confirmed the stategic investment of over €14m in both of the company’s Romanian Packaging production units.
The most substantial investment, valued at €10.5m, aims for the accelerated growth of the Innovation Hub in Timișoara, and will be implemented by the first quarter of 2027. The project encompasses automation, complete transformation of the production flow, and expansion of the finished goods warehouse to meet cutting-edge logistics requirements.
In parallel, the Ghimbav facility is continuing its sustained investment programme, receiving a further €3.6m investment in 2026 for infrastructure modernisation and improvements to the corrugated board manufacturing equipment, designed to increase operational performance and production capacity.
