CIWM has confirmed the election of Marcus Gover as Junior Vice President.
Gover (pictured left) will formally take over the role from Liz Parkes MBE, who will become Senior Vice President at the Presidential Inauguration in June. He brings over three decades of leadership experience to the role, having spearheaded major sustainability initiatives on an international scale. A scientist by background, he has defined his career by bridging the gap between technical innovation and large-scale environmental policy. His expertise spans the full breadth of the resource sector, from early-stage renewable energy start-ups to the management of global technical service businesses.
Most recently, Gover served as Director of the Minderoo Foundation’s Plastics Initiative, where he led international teams across Australia, Asia, and Europe dedicated to tackling plastic pollution. Prior to this, he was CEO of WRAP, where he worked to enhance the sustainability of product and food systems to capture the benefits of a regenerative circular economy. His earlier career includes leading environmental programmes in the UK and abroad for a range of organisations, including a start-up renewable energy company and an international technical services business.
Gover commented, “It is an honour to be elected to the CIWM Presidential Team. Having led international business and sustainability initiatives for over 30 years, I have seen how essential cross-sector collaboration is to achieving total systems change. I look forward to contributing my experience in global policy and technical services to help ensure CIWM remains at the forefront of the transition toward a sustainable circular economy.”
