The 4th issue of The Recyclist, the membership publication of the Bureau of International Recycling, is now available in hard copy, online and will also be distributed at BIR’s upcoming Convention in Bangkok.
One of the highlights of the latest issue is “The Big Interview” with Professor Philippe Chalmin, French historian and economist, and Dr Elizabeth Stephens, geopolitical strategist, who offer fascinating insights on how trade policies are impacting recyclers. Though their points of view diverge on this issue, both believe in the inventiveness and resilience of recycling businesses. Stephens says, “Markets are phenomenal at adapting and become remarkably resilient in the face of geopolitical risks. Markets will work around whatever governments do.”
Additional features include an update on BIR’s advocacy work on policy and legislation, a look at how Basel Convention changes are impacting electric motor recycling, and a deep dive into the implications of the EU and the US looking to shore up their supplies of secondary copper.
Representing the next generation of recyclers is an interview with young trader Anastasia Kopysh, who reflects on the passion and energy she has found since becoming involved in the recycling sector. Finally, the magazine looks at the distinguished career of Dominique Maguin, BIR’s president from 2007-2011 and his continued commitments to the recycling sector.

Available as an E-edition or a sustainably printed glossy magazine, the pages have been crafted from recycled paper with eco-friendly ink. The magazine is currently being mailed to all BIR members in 70 countries world-wide.
