At the end of August, Progroup’s newest corrugated sheetfeeder in the northern Italian city of Cessalto successfully started regular operation. With this cutting-edge plant, the family-run business continues its growth strategy and sustainably strengthens its position on the European market.
The highly automated plant is geared towards maximum efficiency and quality. With an operating speed of 400 m/min and a working width of 3.35 metres, the BHS Corrugated line produces Next Generation® corrugated board sheets with particularly low grammages – sustainably and with a focus on resource conservation. The plant’s annual capacity of about 200,000 tonnes and its finalisation within the planned deadlines and budget underlines the project’s high efficiency and reliability.
“The new plant represents everything Progroup stands for: technological progress, entrepreneurial vision and excellent teamwork,” says Maximilian Heindl, CEO, Progroup. “With this plant, we not only invest in high-performance production, but also in a strong, dynamic and long-term future together with our customers in Italy. Many thanks to everyone involved for the outstanding implementation.”
Successful packaging park model
With PW16 in Cessalto, Progroup once more utilises the successful innovative packaging park concept, geared towards long-term partnership and maximum efficiency. The sheetfeeder plant operates and produces right next door to its customer Ondulkart. This immediate proximity fundamentally optimises logistics processes.
“The packaging park in Cessalto is a strategic milestone for us. Being this closely interlinked with Progroup enables us to serve our customers with unparalleled speed and flexibility. Together, we are creating a production environment that sets new benchmarks for quality, sustainability and innovation,” says Antonio Pesce, CEO, Ondulkart.
The corrugated sheets are conveyed directly from the fully automated high-bay warehouse with about 15,000 storage spaces into Ondulkart’s packaging plant. An intelligent intralogistics system precisely manages the material flows, exactly as needed and without lags or delays.
Resource conservation
This not only reduces operative costs significantly for both partner companies, it also lowers CO₂ emissions by eliminating several dozen truck deliveries per day. The packaging park model in Cessalto thereby sets an example for modern, resource-conserving industrial production that consistently combines efficiency and sustainability.
“Our sustainable orientation does not stop at logistics. With our Next Generation corrugated board sheets, which offer maximum stability and quality while significantly reducing resource consumption, we actively contribute to the ecological transformation of the packaging industry. This way, we strengthen not only our own competitive position, but also and especially that of our customers,” says Vinzenz Heindl, Chief Sales Officer, Progroup.
PW16, following PW11 in Drizzona, is the second Italian plant of the family-run business. With it, Progroup not only expands its production capacities, but also makes a clear statement in favour of sustainable growth and trusting partnerships in Europe’s biggest corrugated sheetboard market.
