At FACHPACK 2025, Westfalia Technologies GmbH & Co. KG will once again demonstrate how automated storage systems can optimize logistics and production processes for flawless packaging. Producers of corrugated cardboard, paper, packaging, and their customers use Westfalia technologies to store unusual formats and heavy loads in a space-saving, flexible, and efficient manner. Fully automated, vertical, and strategic, to increase throughput while reducing space requirements and costs.
Sensitive surfaces or dimensional stability can suffer during manual storage. Automated systems, on the other hand, minimize damage, material loss, and wear thanks to precise motion sequences and SKU support on the Satellite® load handling device as well as multiple profile rails in rack compartments. Pallets can be used longer and load units can be stored without pallets. System reliability and service life are significantly improved.
The variety of packaging grows with the range of goods on offer – and with it, in manual, forklift-operated block storage systems, the space required and the complexity of material flows. Westfalia systems can transport several load units simultaneously, store them vertically and at high density in multi-deep storage channels and warehouses from just a few meters in height and with a few hundred storage locations. This allows companies to grow vertically without requiring additional space. Multi-channel rack compartments, multi-dimensional compartment management via the Savanna.NET® warehouse execution system, and storage center blocks that can be operated redundantly from two aisles allow different formats to be combined as desired and inventory to be dynamically adjusted to demand using real-time data.
This maximum flexibility also extends to material purchasing and production: because storage systems with Satellite® or with particularly fast telescopic forks can be tailored to specific requirements, they can be placed close to production and processing lines. Material paths are shortened. The capacity for materials and the temporary storage of semi-finished goods and corrugated cardboard blanks is growing. Batches of any size can be produced at different times with less setup time, and paper and raw materials can be purchased at the best prices and kept in stock.
Thanks to the compactness and scalability of Westfalia storage systems, companies of all sizes can bundle the production of format goods, films, their processing into packaging and further production, as well as storage and distribution at a single location. They save costs and emissions for transport logistics between individual locations. To ensure that these storage systems run for a long time and remain sustainable, economical, and efficient, Westfalia also focuses on the modernization, conversion, and expansion of third-party and proprietary complete systems.
From the outset, Westfalia has developed its technologies in close cooperation with its customers. They are tried and tested in practice and scalable for various SMEs. The experts with Westfalia are available to answer any questions about how the strengths of warehouse automation can be adapted to customer-specific requirements – and will be happy to do so in person at FACHPACK in September at booth 534, hall 7.
