Coveris Group recently welcomed Ian Sollom MP to its Cromwell Road site in St Neots. The visit comes as the site undergoes a £5m investment to triple capacity and support growing demand for sustainable food-to-go formats.

Discussions with the Member of Parliament covered several key areas:
- The potential impact of the UK’s new Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) legislation on fibre-based composite packaging, including the recyclable sandwich skillets made in St Neots;
- Proposals to create a new pEPR sub-category for high-fibre content composites to protect innovation and investment in more sustainable materials;
- The importance of ringfencing pEPR fees to improve UK recycling infrastructure;
- The site’s role in local employment, technical skills development, and creating long-term career pathways in the packaging industry.
“As part of our award-winning No Waste strategy, Coveris is investing in technologies to support our development of sustainable packaging and minimise waste,” said the company. “Thank you to Ian Sollom MP for taking the time to meet the team and support sustainable packaging, skills, and manufacturing.”
