New-Indy to invest

New-Indy Containerboard has reported that it is set to invest $240m to convert a mill site it recently acquired in Catawba, South Carolina.

The mill, which currently produces lightweight communication papers, will have a series of upgrades that will allow the paper machine to run lightweight kraftliner. The mill will continue to use timber from local suppliers and the company said that it expects the upgrades to be completed by Q4 2020. Once online, the virgin paper will help balance the supply of virgin and recycled papers manufactured by the company.

Founded in 2012, New-Indy Containerboard is an independent, privately-owned manufacturer and supplier of corrugated boxes, recycled containerboard and virgin containerboard. It is a joint venture between The Kraft Group and Schwarz Partners.
