California sheet feeder has new name and new structure

The owners of the LACorr consortium in City of Industry, Calif., have unveiled a new business name following recent changes in ownership interest. Effective in February, the business is now known as GoldenCorr.

“The name change to GoldenCorr reflects a new approach to growing our business,” said Jeff Erselius, owner of Jellco Container and GoldenCorr member. “We will continue to provide the exceptional quality and service our owners have come to expect from us, but with Georgia-Pacific now in our consortium there is the opportunity to take our product to other independent corrugated sheet converters in the California market.”

“Joining a sheet feeder consortium is part of our business growth strategy and LACorr provided a good opportunity for our first venture,” said Billy Medof, president – GP Corrugated. “Georgia-Pacific will be responsible for external sales of corrugated sheets from GoldenCorr. We look forward to offering GoldenCorr’s outstanding quality and service to the market.”

In the new structure, Georgia-Pacific joined Jellco Container, Fleetwood-Fibre Packaging and Graphics, and Pacific Western Container as consortium members. Georgia-Pacific purchased a minority ownership interest in the sheet feeder operation when four of the seven consortium members departed this past August. LACorr was established in 2000 to provide corrugated sheets to its members. The sheet feeder operates two modern corrugators. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
