Well known since 1979 for short run, quick set box makers, Kolbus Autobox have recently launched BoxPrint BP500, a flat-bed, offline, full colour digital printer to fully compliment its existing flexo and in-line single colour digital print options.
Print resolution of 800 and 1600 dpi is achievable with water-based inks that are fitted with 2L capacity CMYK ink tanks. An onboard high-powered PC enables users to install variable data software and alternative RIP solutions for optimum flexibility.
Individual sheets can now be full colour printed prior to the subsequent box making process. Maximum sheet width is 1200mm by unlimited length; board grades from micro flute to doublewall can be run.
A self-cleaning system utilising vacuum and ionizing bar technology results in sheets being pre cleaned resulting in improved surface cleanliness and overall print quality. Unlike other similar off line full colour digital printers, the BoxPrint BP500 can be operated within the main box converting area without the need to house the machine in a separate, atmosphere-controlled room.
Simon Needham, Sales Director at Kolbus Autobox says, “We are excited to introduce the BoxPrint BP500 to enable sheet plants or packaging distributors the opportunity to easily and cost effectively add value to their short run box offering. It can be used for runs from just a few boxes up to several hundreds. It is the perfect complement to our existing machinery portfolio and is supported worldwide by the Kolbus network of Sales & Service Offices and approved Distributors.”
Needham concludes, “We have really hit the ground running with this new machine, having already sold three units to box plants in Australia.”
The BoxPrint BP500 will be running live demonstrations on the main Kolbus stand in Hall 1/B45 at Drupa 2020.
