IP delays plans for PM conversion

It has been reported that International Paper plans to postpone plans to convert PM15 to be able to run containerboard. PM15 is located at IP’s Riverdale Mill in Selma, Alabama.

The company initially anticipated converting its 235,000 ton-per-year uncoated paper machine to produce 450,000 tons of containerboard. However, Mark Sutton, CEO, commented at the Citi Basic Materials Conference in New York City at the end of November that the company intends to postpone this project until the first half of 2020. He implied it would cost more to complete the project sooner, as well as noting there were other issues with equipment and labor.
