The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released the October 2019 Containerboard Monthly report on 15th November. Total containerboard production in October remained essentially flat (+0.0%) compared to October 2018. It was down 4% when compared to the same 10 months of 2018.
- October 2019 production of containerboard for export increased 4% compared to the same month last year; it was down 16% year-to-date.
- The containerboard operating rate was 94.7%, essentially flat (-0.5 pts.) from October 2018 and down 5.5 points year-to-date.
- Mill inventories of containerboard at the end of October decreased 26,000 short tons from the previous month and were up 30,000 short tons compared to October 2018.
