4evergreen has published Version 4 of the Circularity by Design Guideline, a comprehensive update supporting the design of paper-based packaging that can be collected, sorted, and recycled at scale across Europe. This edition:
- Refines guidance for conventional, paper mill with flotation-deinking recycling process, and paper mill with specialised recycling process;
- Updates terminology and compatibility criteria in line with evolving infrastructure and regulatory requirements;
- Strengthens advice on adhesives, coatings, inks, and integrated components;
- For the first time, introduces a dedicated chapter on sorting disruptors, design elements that risk diverting paper-based packaging into the wrong stream and lowering both yield and quality.
“The result is a clearer, more aligned reference for designers, converters, brands, and recyclers working towards high‑quality fibre recycling,” said the company. “Version 4 reflects the collective expertise of the 4evergreen alliance and our shared commitment to a future where fibre‑based packaging delivers on its circular potential.”
