Every year the European Carton Makers Association (ECMA) brings together folding carton converters, cartonboard mills, national associations and suppliers to the folding carton industry. The ECMA Congress 2024 will take place at the Hilton Berlin Hotel in Berlin, Germany on 19 & 20 September 2024. This year's strapline will be 'Resilience in a sea of adversity'.

The working programme includes speakers from Philip Morris International, the European Commission, McKinsey, CEPI, Smithers and a CEO Roundtable discussion.

The ECMA Congress for 2023 took take place at the Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento Hotel in Sevilla, Spain on 21 & 22 September 2023. This event was again be a wonderful celebration of all things related to cartonboard & folding cartons. The theme of the Congress was 'Circular Cartons & Beyond' and we had a superb line-up of speakers including Tesco, Nestlé, The European Commission, Euromonitor, CEPI, AFRY Management Consulting and Moorgate Capital whilst our keynote speaker was the acclaimed presenter and customer experience enthusiast, Steven van Belleghem. In addition, the highly energetic and renowned TED presenter, Leyla Acaroglu, conducted an interactive sustainability workshop where delegates designed their own packaging.

As usual, this event celebrated all things connected with folding cartons and cartonboard and during the Thursday evening dinner, the winners of the European Carton Excellence Awards were announced. You can check out the winners here.

Following the earthquake in Turkey last February, which shocked us all, and to show support to our friends in Turkey; ECMA donated a cheque at the congress to a charity supporting those effected by the devastation.
