Graphic Packaging Plans Major Expansion

On April 28, Michael Doss, President and CEO of Graphic Packaging, joined Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and Scott Sureddin, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, North America, to announce a combined $274 million capital investment to develop a 1.27 million-sq-ft folding carton plant and logistics center in Northeast Louisiana.

Graphic Packaging’s West Monroe, Louisiana, mill will supply paperboard to the new packaging and logistics center. DHL will build the 1.27 million-sq-ft center, which will include a 793,000-sq-ft distribution facility and a 480,000-sq-ft carton converting facility, according to local media reports.

Graphic Packaging plans to move carton production from its two existing carton sites in West Monroe to the new site and invest $70 million in new state-of-the-art equipment. The consolidation of the two plants is expected to be completed in 2019. DHL will complete the new logistics center by the second half of 2018.
