A new Fosber 400 line successfully starts up at Porcari Plant in Lucca, Italy

On 11th January 2016, the first 400m per min line in Italy was successfully started up at DS Smith's plant in Porcari, Italy. Fosber reports that several further confirmed orders for the new 400m per min lines have also been received for installation in the second half of 2016.
The management at DS Smith Porcari, who had entrusted Fosber with the installation of its first prototype SMART single facer over a decade ago, has renewed its trust in the company with this latest installation. This supply includes the latest generation SMART 400 single facers which have been designed with cutting-edge technology that feature technical characteristics ensuring the highest possible board quality standards.

This new Fosber 400 line is key to DS Smith Porcari’s project plan to modernise the plant which simultaneously improves both its competitiveness and product quality. This line has an operating speed of 400m per min with maximum working width of 2500mm. It is equipped with the new MASTER 400 cut-off knife and Fosber’s latest 300m per min order change system, 'Constant System'.
The line also offers maximum production versatility to meet the plant’s market needs. It is equipped with five separate flute profiles that are configured to run the lightest to heaviest papers without any compromise to line performance nor quality of the finished product.

Having started up on 11th January, within one week the new line had reached and surpassed the production volumes that were being achieved before the stop on 18th December 2015. "Thanks to our technology, focus on quality and the attention to customer needs, Fosber has demonstrated again why it is the ideal partner and supplier for the supply of machinery and complete lines for the corrugated packaging industry," explains Massimiliano Bianchi, Managing Director of Fosber. "We are absolutely convinced that the foundation for our ongoing success is, and will always be, centred firmly around the strong partnership we form with our customers."
