Board24 plans expansion at Preston site

Board24 is investing a further £5 million at its site in Preston. This follows on from the successful £11 million investment and installation of a second 2.5m BHS Corrugated line in late 2015.

Planning approval has been received for a 4,000 sqm extension, which will facilitate the full optimisation of the two corrugator site across six production shifts. The investment will increase loading and storage capacity by 30 per cent as well as eliminating the potential for bottlenecks via a forth material handling line, fully integrated into the existing system. This investment will ensure that the business continues to deliver growth and the first class service requirements for its key strategic customer base.

Eric Marshall, Operations Manager at Board24 Preston comments on the next phase in Preston’s expansion plans, saying, “We are already at advanced stages of recruitment for our sixth shift. In September, we will be installing a new pallet line and conveyors, the first stage in what we envisage will be an 18 month project.”

Richard McBride, Managing Director at Board24 comments, “We are delighted to be able to secure shareholder support for this next stage of Preston’s development. That we are able to announce this next stage a full 12 months ahead of schedule is testament to our key customers who have invested in their own business and continue to deliver excellent growth. With further investment planned at our other sites, our customers can be assured that Board24 will always stay ahead of the game.”
